Sorcerer: Black Magician

Prerequisite: Sorcerer

Black Magician Path Features

(11th Level): You can reach deep within yourself and draw upon your own life force, and the stolen life forces of others, to throw more power into your spells. Once per turn as a free action, just prior to using a sorcerer encounter power, a sorcerer daily power, or a black magician power, you can spend a healing surge, but you regain no hit points. Instead, when the power you use damages a target, you deal an extra 2d8 damage to that target. The type of the extra damage is the same as the type of the damage dealt by the power. Increase the damage to 3d8 at 21st level.

(11th Level): You can spend an action point to regain one of your encounter spells you have already used, instead of taking an extra action.

(16th Level): You can reach deep within yourself and draw upon your own life force, and the stolen life forces of others, to use more spells than you normally would. When you Second Wind, you can spend an additional healing surge and regain no additional hit points to make a d20 check. The result indicates the kind of spell you regain. You can instead choose a spell using a lower result than you rolled.

Natural 1: You fail the check and expend the healing surge.
2-6: Encounter utility spell.
7-16: Encounter attack spell.
17-19: Daily utility spell.
Natural 20: Daily attack spell.

Attack: Charisma vs. Will
Hit: 1[w] damage and 1d10 + Charisma modifier necrotic damage, and the target looses a healing surge and you gain a healing surge.


Arcana Vitality
Black Magician Utility 12
You draw upon the power you have stolen from your foes to use more spells than you normally could.
Daily ✦ Arcane
Minor Action Personal
Effect: You spend a healing surge, but regain no hit points. Instead, you regain one encounter power you have already used.


Life Leech
Black Magician Attack 20
With your powerful dark magic, you drain a foe almost dry of their power.
Daily ✦ Arcane, Necrotic, Weapon
Standard Action Melee weapon
Target: One creature
Attack: Charisma vs. Will
Hit: 1[w] damage and 3d10 + Charisma modifier necrotic damage, and the target looses a healing surge and you gain two healing surges.
