Candy Caltrops
At first glance, candy caltrops seem to be a fanciful treat, candy corn fused together with a wad of gum in the rough shape of a caltrop. However, they are far more dangerous than they appear. A half pound sack of candy caltrops can cover the same space as a two pound bag of normal Caltrops and act in the same way. However, the true purpose of candy caltrops is that in addition to piercing feet, they create a smear of extremely sticky syrup that makes the squares affected by the caltrops difficult terrain. In a pinch, the caltrops can be soaked in neutral alcohol to render them edible, and this can also make them easier to remove (providing a +2 bonus on Heal checks made to treat the wounds).
Craft (Alchemy) DC 15. Market Price 15 gp.
A more expensive version swaps the alchemically sticky gum with a two-part payload of alchemical glue and an accelerant. This concoction makes the affected area stickier and more difficult to move through (increase the movement cost by one square), and causes the caltrops to be very difficult to remove if not tended to quickly. The accelerated glue fully cures in one minute, meaning that if a creature has caltrops in their feet and is standing, they are stuck fast where they stand. If they aren't standing, then the caltrops are merely fixed firmly to their feet.
Craft (Alchemy) DC 30. Market Price 50 gp.
Either version can be combined with a cheap acidic syrup that weakens leather but doesn't affect the caltrops (or glue) themselves), removing the AC bonus of footwear against caltrops. This weak acid adds 5 gp to the market price.
