With a single word you strip an elemental of its power, which you trap in an gemstone. This can only target an elemental. This acts as disintegration, however if the target dies from the effect, it's power is locked in a gem. The gem can be used to craft items, or as a magic item in itself. If used to craft items, it can replace having to expend 300 gold and 20 xp per HD of the elemental. For example if George, a 11th level wizard, casts this spell on an small fire elemental, and later wants to craft a wand of burning hands, he need not expend any xp to do so. The gem could instead be used as a magic item itself. When casting the spell the caster can choose any wondrous item, wand, scroll, or staff that could be crafted for free with the gem (the caster need not any feats). The gem emulates that item perfectly.
Material Component: Before the actual casting of Bind Elemental, you must procure a gem of at least 275 gp value for every Hit Die possessed by the creature to be trapped. If the gem is not valuable enough, it shatters when the entrapment is attempted. (While creatures have no concept of level or Hit Dice as such, the value of the gem needed to trap an individual can be researched. Remember that this value can change over time as creatures gain more Hit Dice.)
