Those who sit upon this throne gain a +5 insight bonus on Bluff, Diplomacy, Intimidate, and Sense Motive checks, and telepathy out to 100 ft.  They may also employ the following spell-like abilities, using their highest mental ability modifier to set the DC.

However, if the user is able to use any of these spells, they may choose to cast the spell normally.  If so, the duration lasts as long as they remain in the chair or the spell is discharged normally, and normal duration begins to count down once they leave the chair.

While in the chair, the chair suppresses (but is not immune to) any mind-affecting effects on its user.  These effects have their durations held until the user leaves the chair.  It is here where the insidious nature of the chair is revealed, as non-illithids who attempt to use the chair are secretly affected by the same spell-like abilities they use on their opponents at the same DCs, with new conditions and commands which are beneficial to illithid interests.  For the purposes of commands and plotting, the throne is a lawful evil intelligent item with the mental ability scores of Int 19, Wis 17, and Cha 17.
