Dilettante[edit]

  • Background Type: Utility
  • Maximum Expertise Level: Master

The Dilettante is for those indecisive or min-maxing players who want to play more than one Background on the same character - Perhaps someone who walked many long roads in life before taking up the adventurer's mantle. Thus, there are actually many different variants of this Background, moreso than the others.

When you choose the Dilettante Background, in one of its four forms, you choose 2, 3 or 4 Backgrounds (Other than this one) of your choice, labeling them A and B (And possibly C and D), as you see fit (With the exception of the "Two Novice, One Veteran" combo, in which case the Veteran Background is always A). Once you have done this, refer to the table to see which abilities you gain when.

Playing a Dilettante[edit]

Dilettante Roleplaying[edit]

Dilettantes are curious people by nature, always willing to try new things, explore new places, and take up new hobbies. People like this can be annoyingly talkative, asking dozens of questions before you can answer the first; Or they can follow you around with a paper and quill, taking notes silently but nosily. Most Dilettantes can't resist the temptation of an unexplored room, new language, item or trick, or simple unturned stones.

Dilettante Adventures[edit]

Dilettantes are always getting in trouble - After all, curiosity killed the cat. Whether they're chasing down a myth, traveling over seas to explore forgotten ruins, or simply trying out the food at a new restaurant that opened up, Dilettantes are always on the move, so it's never hard to drag them into a new adventure - But rather, hard to get them to focus on the current one.
