Bone Chime[edit]

Bone Chime
Price: 4000 gp
Body Slot: Held
Caster Level: 5
Aura: Weak Necromancy
Activation: Standard
Weight: 5

The large chime is made from slightly yellowing bone. Despite not having been struck recently, it's still tolling a note you can feel in the back of your teeth.

This chime, rarely used by true necromancers, allows you to duplicate the effect of animate dead (CL 5) 1/day, though only a single skeleton or zombie may be active at a time. While the skeleton or zombie is active, the chime continues to tolls, for up to 5 days. When the chime stops tolling (either because the duration expires or because a creature quiets it as a standard action) the animated undead instantly perishes.

At any point during the duration, another creature can toll the chime as a standard action and gain control of the animated creature. Tolling the chime releases all undead under your control, and control cannot be reestablished until the chime is silenced, something which any creature with any controlled undead is aware of upon seeing or hearing the chime.

Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, animate dead.
Cost to Create: 2000 gp, 160 EXP, 2 days.
