Brightmind Halfling

Brightmind Halflings are a curious lot. While their more common brethren excel in physical pursuits, the Brightmind Halflings have more of an academic bent.

Personality

Brightmind halflings are scholarly, but not stiff. They approach knowledge with a child-like wonder, always on the lookout for new, interesting pieces of knowledge.

Physical Description

Brightmind halflings are rather indiscernible from their common brethren, except their bodies are not quite as lithe.

Relations

Brightmind halflings get along rather well with other races that value brains over brawn, elves and their ilk in particular.

Alignment

Most brightmind halflings have a neutral component to their alignment, representing the fact that pure knowledge is unbiased and unaligned.

Language

Brightmind halflings share the same languages as their common brethren.

Racial Traits

• -2 Strength, +2 Intelligence: Like their common brethren, brightmind halflings are weak of body, but rather than focusing upon their natural nimbleness, brightmind halflings excel in areas of the mind.
• Humanoid (Halfling): For purposes related to spells, feats, and classes, brightmind halflings are treated as halflings.
• Small: As a Small creature, a brightmind halfling gains a +1 size bonus to Armor Class, a +1 size bonus on attack rolls, a –4 size penalty on special attack (bull rushes, grapples, overruns, and trips) checks, and a +4 size bonus on Hide checks, but it uses smaller weapons than humans use, and its lifting and carrying limits are three-quarters of those of a Medium character.
• Brightmind halfling base land speed is 20 feet.
• +2 racial bonus on all Knowledge and Decipher Script checks.
• +2 racial bonus on all Will saving throws.
• +1 racial bonus on attack rolls with thrown weapons and slings.
• Automatic Languages: Common and Halfling.
• Bonus Languages: Dwarven, Elven, Gnome, Goblin, Orc, and Draconic.
• Favored Class: Wizard and Bard.
• Level Adjustment: +0
• Effective Character Level: 1
