Canon talk:List of Birthright Wiki articles
How this Page might be updated[edit]
This page will not be updated automatically. Here is one way to do it manually. Please feel free to change this section, if you find a more elegant solution, but this one is at least easier than editing each link individually.
• On Birthright Wiki’s All articles - first 500, mark all while holding the "Ctrl" key and copy it to Word.
• Repeat this for the following pages of articles and copy them below the first one.
• Mark everything and switch of the numbering in Word.
• Copy all of this from Word to column B into an Excel sheet.
• Copy-past column B to column D.
• Mark column B and let Excel replace every " " (space) by "_".
• Type "[http://www.birthright.net/forums/showwiki.php?title=" into column A and draw it down, so that you have that entry in front of each entry in column B.
• Type " " (space) into column C and draw down.
• Type "]]<br>" into column E and draw down.
• Copy column A through E into Windows Notepad.
• Mark one of the resulting spaces between the columns and let Windows Notepad replace it by "" (nothing).
• Mark everything here, replacing the existing list with new one.
• Update date in "Statusdate" template.
Why?[edit]
Why should we contain this page when a link to their /Special:AllPages page works just as well? This seems like pointless duplication of data and can easily go out of date. --Havvy (talk) 05:10, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
- Because of the Search function. If I am looking for "Avani", I will now find out, that Avani does not have her own article here (yet), but that Birthright Wiki has one and how I get there. I don't think that a link to /Special:AllPages can provide that, but if there was a way it could, that would be great and save the work I started here for the future. - If you like, please also have a look at Canon talk:List of Forgotten Realms Wiki articles#What is this page for? or Canon talk:List of the Great Library of Greyhawk articles#What is this page for?.
