Alien Biology (Ex) Due to its normal residence on the Ethereal Plane, an ethergaunt is unused to the environment and pathogens of other regions of the cosmos and can only take its mask off for short periods to reduce its exposure. An ethergaunt takes 1d6 points of nonlethal damage per minute it stays on any plane other than the Ethereal Plane without its mask on. Because of the continued presence of pathogenic exposure, this time need not be consecutive for the ethergaunt to take damage, but the non-lethal damage heals at the normal rate while they have their masks on.
Orifice Horror (Ex) An ethergaunt may open its mask as a standard action, striking dumb an opponent within 30 ft. that it looks upon. This ability is a gaze attack that forces opponents to make a Will save (DC 10 + ½ ethergaunt’s HD + its Intelligence modifier)(Dc12 for a red infantryman) or take 1d4 points of Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma damage. Once a target is affected (whether the save is successful or not), they cannot be affected by the ethergaunt’s gaze attack for 24 hours. Use of this ability counts as one round of exposure to the present atmosphere. An ethergaunt is immune to its own gaze and those of others of its kind.
Total Vision (Ex) An ethergaunt’s evolved brain and numerous sensory organs allow it to see normally even with a mask on and also prevents attackers from gaining a bonus to attack rolls when flanking the ethergaunt (all other benefits of flanking still apply).
Armor Ability (Ex) A red infantryman encased in steel and negates the first 5 points of nonlethal damage inflicted on it by any source.
Special Training (Su) A red infantryman treats its attacks as magical for all purposes, such as bypassing Dr/magic and attacking incorporeal creatures.
