Fire Sprite (3.5e Monster)

This monster is balanced to fit in a high level of balance game. I have taken the liberty of not using the standard D&D rules for determining various statistics for this monster. As a result, it may seem a bit stronger (or weaker) than some SRD monsters of the same CR and that is fine. I think it will pose an appropriate challenge for characters of its CR.

|Zip (Ex)||Fire sprites can take up to two 5 ft. "steps" as a swift action, each use requiring 5 ft. of their movement. Generally this will be taking away from their fly speed.|
|Fire Sac (Ex)|| Fire sprites have a sac of fire in their stomach. Whenever a fire sprite takes fire damage, it absorbs the fire into its sac, giving it fire points. It can also gain fire points from its drain heat ability.
If a fire sprite ever has more fire points than its current hitpoints, it explodes in a small fire burst dealing 1d6 fire damage per 5 fire points to each creature in its square. Reflex save DC 15 for half damage.
|Drain heat (Su)||When a fire sprite attacks, it can drain heat from its target. It deals 2d6 + 3 cold damage to the target and gains an equal number of fire points.|
|Disease (Ex)||A fire sprite's bite attack causes a target hit by it to make a Fortitude save DC 15 or else contract red ache.|
|Dazzling light (Su)||A fire sprite can spend 1 fire point as a swift action to make any creature in its square dazzled until the sprite's next turn.|
|Nimble (Ex)||Fire sprites can make an escape artist check as a swift action.|
|Firefly (Su)||A fire sprite glows as long as it has at least 1 fire point. If it has 1 fire point it sheds light as a torch (20 ft. bright, 40ft. shadowy), 10 fire points it sheds light as a sunrod (30 ft. bright, 60 ft. shadowy), and if it has 20 fire points it sheds light as the daylight spell (60 ft. bright, 120 ft. shadowy).|
Nimble little pests, these sprites have bulbous round bellies that glow with an internal flame. They generally look humanoid apart from their oversized bellies and triple set of pincers around their mouth.
While fire sprites have the fire subtype, it is only for counting as having it. They do not gain any of the benefits or penalties from having the subtype.
Strategies and Tactics
Fire sprites need to balance their fire points in order to make sure of them without exploding. They will typically bite opponents, using their Zip ability to get into the same square without attacks of opportunity. They will hten use drain heat, dealing additional cold damage because the creature is diseased. After this, they may fall back a bit to shoot a fire ray or keep draining heat for generally faster damage output.
If they feel their home is threatened, they may intentionally drain heat until they explode.
