Golem Overview[1] [2]

 [1]
Golems are made from humble materials - clay, flesh, iron, [etc.] - but they possess astonishing power and durability. A golem has no ambitions, needs no sustenance, feels no pain, and knows no remorse. An unstoppable juggernaut, it exists to follow its creator's orders…

To create a golem, one requires a Manual of Golems. The construction of a golem … body, [requires] great [skill]. After constructing the body…, the golem's creator infuses it with a spirit from the Elemental Plane of Earth. This tiny spark of life has no memory, personality, or history. It is simply the impetus to move and obey… the golem's creator. A golem can't think or act for itself… and can't be reasoned with or tricked with words. A golem doesn't require air, food, drink, or sleep.

Golems can guard sacred sites, tombs, and treasure vaults long after the deaths of their creators… A golem can be created with a special amulet or other item that allows the possessor of the item to control the golem…

Other Lore[edit]

 Wikipedia  [3]
Golems are magical constructs made of inert matter animated by high-level spellcasters through the use of powerful spells during magical rituals. The main aspect differentiating one type of golem from another is the material from which it is built. There are four standard types of golems, from weakest to strongest: flesh golems, clay golems, stone golems and iron golems. The flesh golem is created from human remains, and the others are created from earthen components: clay Icon External Link.svg, stone Icon External Link.svg and iron Icon External Link.svg respectively. Virtually any material can be used to create a golem, and hundreds of different types of such creatures have been described for one edition or another of the game.[4]
