A powerful fey that dwells in the deepest parts of the natural world. The great fairies are extremely powerful sprite, created by the amalgamation of many fairies. The fused being gains a larger consciousness of its own that lacks the individuality of each member, but with a greater power of its own. When slain, a great fairy breaks into many smaller fairies, each with a new mind of its own, and if reunited the great fairy will rise again.

Great fairy are almost always benevolent, but rarely involve themselves with mortal affairs. Instead they act as custodian of sites and treasures of great importance to feykind. They are able to grant wishes, which is why many seek them. However they tend to be shy, and hide away from where they could easily be found. Even if encountered, a great fairy will typically ask for a great service in exchange for a wish.

A great fairy looks much like a female human of large size, with strange features and great grace. Not all of them are extraordinarily beautiful by human standards, they tend to embody extremes in appearance.

Combat[edit]

A great fairy loath to fight, especially an equal foe. She will typically use illusions and disguises to avoid a fight, but if it becomes necessary she will create her fairy bow and fire from above. Great fairies are incredibly intelligent creatures, and exploit their enemies weakness whenever perceived.

If cornered outside of her lair she will cast time stop and teleport away to safety, but not before summoning a few critters as a goodbye gift to her attackers.

Afterimage (Su): While in alert and fighting, a great fairy is under a constant blur and mirror image effect. She regains a single image at the start of each her turn, to the maximum allowed by the spell.

Fairy Bow (Su): As a free action, a great fairy can summon a +5 brilliant energy composite shortbow made of magical energy which automatically adjusts to her current Strength. This bow can hurt all creatures, unlike other brilliant energy weapon. The bow produces its own ammunition and create and fire Pixie's special arrows. The bow ceases to exist if it leaves the hands of the great fairy that created it. The arrows created by this bow ignore winds and magically-granted miss chances.

Final Burst (Su): Upon being killed, the great fairy is divided into twelves pixitte that are scattered across the land as per teleport. If more than half of those pixittes are killed, then the great fairy dies and the remaining pixittes perish. If at least all remaining fairy pixittes are reunited, the great fairy is resurrected as per true resurrection, but she takes a 2 Constitution Burn for each pixitte killed.

Spell-Like Abilities: At will—baleful reduce person (DC 21),baleful transformation ray (DC 24), bestow curse (DC 24), greater dispel magic, teleport, mage armor (self only, constant), magic circle against law, mirage arcana (DC 25), persistent image (DC 25), shield (self only, constant), veil (DC 25); 3/day—binding (DC 28), mass hold monster (DC 29), summon nature's ally IX, time stop. Caster level 20th. The save DCs are Charisma-based.

Unearthly Grace (Su): A great fairy adds her Charisma modifier as a bonus on all her saving throws, and as a deflection bonus to her Armor Class. (The statistics block already reflects these bonuses).

Wishing Power (Su): A great fairy is capable of granting wishes, but only once per individual. Most great fairy keep the wish they can make for themselves in case of emergency. A great fairy cannot grant an inherent bonus with her wish, but she can grant the following extraordinary wishes:

  • She may replicate an enchantment or transmutation spell of 9th level or lower.
  • She may remove any curse on the target, even those not normally removable by wish
  • Once in her lifetime she may turn a regular cold iron longsword into a holy avenger.

A great fairy never twists wishes granted as favors, and would rather not grant a wish than pervert its powers. The only exception is when she is forcefully made to grant a wish through threats of violence. She typically grants a wish to any individual who reunites her pixittes.
