Grounding Armor Spikes

1. See Damage Increases by Size to calculate the damage for a weapon larger than Medium or smaller than Small.
2. Weight figures are for Medium weapons. A Small weapon weighs half as much, and a Large weapon weighs twice as much.
3. When two types are given, the weapon is both types if the entry specifies "and", either type (player's choice at time of attack) if the entry specifies "or", or each end of the double weapon is a different type if the entry specifies "/".
4. The hp value given is for Medium armor, weapons, and shields. Divide by 2 for each size category of the item smaller than Medium, or multiply it by 2 for each size category larger than Medium.


Grounding Armor Spikes function identically to regular armor spikes, but they appear slightly thinner and are set into rubberized caps. Any time a creature wearing these spikes takes electrical damage, the spikes divert and store some of the electricity, keeping it from directly harming the wearer. The first 5 points of electrical damage are stored, and any points in excess of that damages the wearer as normal. This occurs before any damage reduction such as from energy resistance is applied. Each round after the electricity is stored, the spikes dissipate 1 point of damage harmlessly into the environment at the beginning of the wearer's turn.

Stored electricity can be channeled into any successful melee attack, which transfers all the stored electricity as extra electric damage.

For every point of enhancement bonus the armor spikes have, they may store an additional five points of electricity, up to a maximum of 30 points at +5.

Grounding Armor Spikes are always of at least masterwork quality, and provide a +1 enhancement bonus on attack rolls made with them.
