A lifebane scarecrow is a terrible undead maita, also called the harvester maita. These creature look like a very large scarecrows made with a mix of straws and pieces of corpses. They possess two very large crow wings which they can fold into their form to conceal them. The lifebane screcrows mostly stay dormant, when awakened they hunt all living beings within miles and then go back to dormancy to digest it meal proper, waiting for humanoids to resettle the area until it can hunt again.
It is possible that lifebane scarecrow can speak and understand a language, but none have ever communicated so far.
The lifebane scarecrow is a clever and cunning hunter, ambushing the strongest prey then relentlessly pursuing others. It prefer to use it death touch first, to weed out the weak and then kill those who survived it with it great sickle. They always fight to the death, as otherwise it will be left dangerously unprepared for when it is next awakened. That does not mean it will not retreat from an encounter, simply that it will relentlessly pursue anyone who know of it, even if it mean it doom. They dislike fire and fire-using creatures and will seek to kill them first with minimal risk to it being.
Aura of Dread (Su): A lifebane scarecrow possess a very strong aura of dread and paranoia, all creatures with a line of sight of the lifebane scarecrow are At Bay toward it. This ability bypass immunity to [fear] effect.
Devour Soul (Ex): Once a creature has been slain by a Lifebane Scarecrow's death touch it gain hold of it soul and may ingest it as a move action, it may be disarmed before ingestion to prevent it capture by the maita. Alternatively, the lifebane scarecrow may harvest the soul from a corpse who died within 1 minute as a standard action with it grimblade, gaining hold of the soul as above. Once a soul is ingested it function as the normal maita's ability. A lifebane scarecrow digest a soul over the course of a week and may hold an indefinite amount of souls.
Death Touch (Ex): As a a standard action, a lifebane scare crow can attempt to pull the soul out of a creature. The touched creature must make a Fortitude save or die instantly, a successful save halves the creature's hit point instead and make it immune to death touch for 24 hours. This is a [death]]-effect and does not work against soulless creatures. The save DC is Charisma-based.
Dormancy (Ex): A lifebane scarecrow spend most of it existence 'asleep', if a creature attempt to move it, attack it or otherwise disturb it it will awaken and gain an immediate full round worth of action.
Extraordinary Toughness (Ex): A lifebane scarecrow has maximum hit points per hit dice. If it would gain maximum hit point per hit dice through another effect it instead gain 2 additional hit points per hit dice.
