The fruits of your arcane studies are mine to pluck! Memorize!

With a swift hand gesture and but a single word spoken, you commit an arcane spell you have correctly identified (using the Spellcraft skill) to memory. Memorize must be used right after the moment the targeted spell is cast, and you need line of sight to the caster to observe the particulars of the spell's casting. Memorize does not prevent a cast spell from taking effect. The highest level of spell you can memorize is the highest level of arcane spell you are able to cast - 1.

A spell cast with one of its spell components suppressed (such as by Still Spell or Silent Spell), or a spell that has been quickened cannot be memorized.

When a spell is successfully memorized, you may put one instance of it in your list of spells prepared. Doing so overwrites a spell slot of at least one level higher than the memorized spell. If you no longer have spell slots of high enough level remaining, the memorize fails. You cannot memorize a spell from any of your prohibited schools.

Using memorize prevents you from using your next turn's standard action for any spellcasting, unless the spell cast is the memorized spell. Any subsequent uses of memorize overwrites the currently memorized spell, if any.

Instead of casting the memorized spell, you may choose to store it in your mind for the time being, until you can copy it onto a scroll or into your spellbook. This drains an amount of XP equal to the spell level squared, times 10. The spell must be on the wizard spell list for this option to be used, and must be written within 24 hours. Any subsequent casting of memorize will not cause a spell stored for copying to be lost, unless it stores a new spell to be copied.

XP Cost: Only for the spellbook option (see text).
