Bred as guardians, servants and retrievers, these oversized ice-blue, winged, horned gorilla-like creatures impose a presence of menace.

Bleikroggs are stoic and loyal. They rarely talk, often only acknowledging the words and commands of others with quick gestures and short grunts. Boredom is often the enemy of these creatures, and when they become restless, they are prone to taking greater risks.

Most bleikroggs are loyal to their mates as well, picking partners for life. Though, this doesn't necessarily mean monogamy, as both alpha males and alpha females have been known to keep harems in social groups.

Bleikroggs are more likely to forgive transgressions of law than acts of violence against them. In a fight against a bleikgrogg, it is better to fight all the way than attempt to surrender, since many bleikroggs repay violence with swift executions.

Physical Description[edit]

A bleikrogg is built much like a gorilla, though their faces are often more baboon-like and in a perpetual scowl. A pair of bull-like horns jut forward from the crown of their head. Their bodies are covered in a thick shaggy coat of pale, icy-blue fur. A pair of darker blue, leathery gargoyle-like wings stretch from their backs. They often sit resting on their haunches, giving a presence of alertness while on duty as guards.

Male bleikroggs are often paler and larger than the females, especially the mature males. Their faces and skin, typically pale to white, become flushed and purple when enraged or excited. In the cold, this often means that they steam a bit.

A bleikrogg reaches maturity in about 8 years and is as long lived as a human.

Because of the bleikrogg's noble manners, many humanoid societies manage to peaceably coexist near populations of these creatures. However, they are vigilant in search of transgressions against them and intolerant against intrusions. A bleikrogg is willing to take prisoners or extoll payment if shown respect and prostration immediately.

It is thought that the first bleikroggs were created by a fiendish frost giant lord to serve as guardians. Many bleikroggs are indeed quite irredeemably evil, though this is not the case amongst all of them. Those that are not evil tend toward neutrality. Though, some sense of honor is common among their kind and as a group they tend toward lawfulness.

Bleikroggs are most often found in mountainous regions of snow and ice. Occasionally they can be found in ruins but are most likely found in the employ of resident humanoids who use them as servants. Frost elf royalty occasionally keep bleikroggs in service. Bleikroggs oblige such pledges of loyalty and relish the opportunity to stretch their wings and intellect in useful pursuits. Creatures that employ bleikroggs need to keep them occupied lest they become restless and begin testing the bounds of acceptable behavior. It is unwise for their employers to become complacent of their great strength and capable intellect.

These creatures have no religion themselves and any devout individual is purely on a case-by-case basis.

Bleikroggs speak Common, often in a stilted manner since they rarely speak. Particularly learned individuals learn other languages as well (such as the language of any patrons they may have), and often keep what languages they do know a secret to others.

Bleikroggs often have short, guttural names or go by honorific titles.

Bleikroggs are so named because of their pale, shaggy fur. They are also known as cold killers.
