This is a short white rod.
Any oath sworn by a character while holding onto the Oath Rod cannot be willfully broken. Only characters with magical or psionic abilities granted by racial or class features are susceptible to the powers of the Oath Rod. Obedience to the oaths is a permanent magical mind-affecting effect which is suppressed in an antimagic field. Effects like protection from evil only suppress oaths that require obedience, as opposed to mandating forbidden or required courses of action in an abstract sense. For example, if a character swore to never lie, cheat, or steal, and to obey her queen without question, protection from evil would allow her to disobey her queen, but she still could not lie, cheat, or steal.
Creatures who have sworn oaths on the rod are not prevented from thinking about breaking their oaths or wanting to, but when it comes time to actually break the oaths, they simply find that they cannot bring themselves to do so.
While under the influence of the Oath Rod, a character ages twice as quickly, aging by two days for every day that passes.
There are only two ways to permanently undo the oaths of a character: to have them unswear the oaths while holding onto an Oath Rod, or to make them lose all of their magical and psionic abilities via some basically permanent effect such as Severing, This is Your Brain on Magic, or The Unbending.
Prerequisites: Weave Angreal with Oath Rod learned in place of a weave.
