Unofficial Description: Purple Dragon Knights have a bond with an Amethyst Dragon due to their pledge to protect the innocent, justice, and freedom. The order was founded in Cormyr.

Knightly Envoy

3rd level Purple Dragon Knight feature.
Unofficial Summary: Gain a language. Can cast Comprehend Languages as a Ritual. 

Purple Dragon Companion

3rd level Purple Dragon Knight feature.
Unofficial Summary: You bond with a amethyst dragon hatchling that is Friendly to you and your allies.

• The Dragon in Combat. While you are not Incapacitated, the dragon can use a Reaction, but only take the Dodge action. You can use a Bonus Action to have it use any of its actions.
• Resurrecting the Dragon. You can use a Magic action and a use of Second Wind to have the dragon revive in a bit with full Hit Points. Or you can perform a ceremony during a Rest to revive the dragon.

Dragon Rider

7th level Purple Dragon Knight feature.
Unofficial Summary: The dragon improves as follows:

• Dragon Mount. The dragon is Medium size and can be ridden as a mount (assuming you are not Large or bigger). You can mount and dismount the dragon with reduced movement cost.
• Improved Gravity Breath. Increases in size and can cause Force damage.
• Shared Second Wind. Your Second Wind also allows the dragon to heal. 

Rallying Surge

10th level Purple Dragon Knight feature.
Unofficial Summary: Action Surge creates an Emanation that can effect a number of allies in it to use a Reaction to gain one benefit:

• Advance. The ally makes one weapon or Unarmed Strike attack (if the dragon is one of the allies, it can use Rend).
• Retreat. The ally can move a distance, without causing Opportunity Attacks. 

Amethyst Pinnacle

15th level Purple Dragon Knight feature.
Unofficial Summary: You and the dragon gain these benefits:

• Superior Mount. The dragon is Large and Speed and Fly Speed increase. It also doesn't fall at the end of a turn while flying if you are on it.
• Tandem Attack. Using the Attack Action, you give up one attack to have the dragon Rend or two attacks to have it use Gravity Breath. 

Enduring Commander

15th level Purple Dragon Knight feature.
Unofficial Summary: You and the dragon gain Resistance to Force and Psychic damage. 5e24

Design Note: Purple Dragon Knight Updates

Here are the main updates in this subclass since its appearance in Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide:

• Knightly Envoy (formerly Royal Envoy) has been moved to level 3. It now lets you learn an additional language and cast the Comprehend Languages spell as a Ritual.
• Purple Dragon Companion is a new feature that gives the Purple Dragon Knight a dragon companion.
• Dragon Rider is a new feature that improves the dragon companion, allowing you to heal it with your Second Wind and ride it in a limited capacity.
• Rallying Surge (formerly Inspiring Surge) now lets you choose up to three creatures within a more limited radius. It also gives chosen creatures a retreat option.
• Amethyst Pinnacle is a new feature that again improves your dragon companion, allowing you to ride it unrestricted and attack in tandem.
• Enduring Commander is a new feature that grants both you and your dragon companion Resistances.
