Ribbon Dagger

1. See Damage Increases by Size to calculate the damage for a weapon larger than Medium or smaller than Small.
2. Weight figures are for Medium weapons. A Small weapon weighs half as much, and a Large weapon weighs twice as much.
3. When two types are given, the weapon is both types if the entry specifies "and", either type (player's choice at time of attack) if the entry specifies "or", or each end of the double weapon is a different type if the entry specifies "/".
4. The hp value given is for Medium armor, weapons, and shields. Divide by 2 for each size category of the item smaller than Medium, or multiply it by 2 for each size category larger than Medium.


Essentially an sharp and slender blade attached to a long silk ribbon, the ribbon dagger has no handle, and is held by the ribbon.

A ribbon dagger has reach, so you can strike opponents 10 feet away with it. In addition, unlike most other weapons with reach, it can be used against an adjacent foe.

A ribbon dagger can also be easily flung to strike targets up to 10 feet beyond your natural reach (e.g. 15 feet for normal medium creatures) away without letting go of the ribbon, allowing the wielder to easily reel in the weapon after the attack. Throwing the blade any further necessitates a release of the ribbon.


A ribbon dagger, being light-weight and not directly held, does not benefit from strength in any way - do not apply strength bonuses for to-hit or to-damage ability modifiers.

Additionally, it is impossible to deal subdual damage with the weapon with normal techniques, as it is mostly blade, and possesses no weight. Subdual damage with the ribbon is possible - treat as an improvised weapon (rope).


You can make trip attacks with the ribbon blade. If you are tripped during your own trip attempt, you can drop the ribbon to avoid being tripped.

You get a +2 bonus on Sleight of Hand checks made to conceal a ribbon dagger on your body, and you get a +2 bonus to feints in combat made with the ribbon dagger.

A ribbon dagger does either piercing or slashing damage (player’s choice at time of attack).

(The ribbon blade is the little second cousin of the Ribbon Blade, by which it was inspired.)
