Runewall
Abjuration
Level: Sorcerer/Wizard 5
Components: V, S
Casting time: At least one round; see text
Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
Effect: A vertical wall, up to 5ft/two levels long
Duration: 1 min./level (D)
Saving Throw: See text
Spell Resistance: Yes

You conjure a translucent wall of scintillating runes, which carries the effect of an attached spell. Both runewall and a targeted spell of up to 4th level are cast at the same time, expending both spell slots, with a minimum casting time of one round if the attached spell would be cast in less time. The attached spell cannot possess any XP cost; any costly material component must be supplied five times over.

Once the spell is cast, a vertical wall with a length of up to 5ft per two caster levels and a height of up to 2ft per caster level springs into being. The wall need not be straight, but must be contiguous and unbroken, with the spell fizzling without effect if it passes through any squares occupied by a creature. The runes in the wall take on a visual character evocative of the attached spell, such as wavering red lettering in the case of a spell that deals fire damage.

Whenever a creature or object passes through the wall, if they are a valid target of the attached spell then they are subject to its effects, including the opportunity to make a saving throw if the original spell offered such an opportunity, using runewalls level for the purpose of setting the DC. This effect is always subject to any spell resistance the target may have, regardless of whether the attached spell would ordinary do so. Any particular target can only be subject to the spell once per round.

The runewall otherwise does not impede movement or visibility in any way, and does not block line of effect.

The runewall is considered a magic trap, and can be disabled by any rogue with a high enough disable device check. The DC is 25 + spell level, or 30 in the case of runewall. Additionally, a successful spellcraft check to identify runewall also has the effect of revealing the attached spell.

If runewall is cast using a spell slot of level greater than 5, such as due to the application of a metamagic feat, the maximum level of the attached spell increases accordingly.
