Monsters after "R"

Is it just me, or are the monsters after the "R" section not appearing in the list? --Andrew Arnott (talk, email) 13:16, September 8, 2009 (UTC)

I figured out why. In the DPL installation, you can set the max number of results that are returned, which defaults to 500. The rest of the results are just truncated. We either need to have a link to the next 500 somehow or have this value changed to a larger number. --Andrew Arnott (talk, email) 17:32, September 8, 2009 (UTC)

Wiki Project

I think it would be nice to have all of the creatures switched over to the Stat Block 2 format. That way we can easily set properties in the template and track information for all of the SRD creatures (like Str score, HD, etc). After we finish transferring all of the missing SRD/UA pages over, would anyone be interested in helping with this project? Sub-pages & Organization

SMW properties make some of these pages less useful than they originally may have been. However, the SRD isn't currently optimized with proper properties on these monsters to take full advantage of that. Currently, Creatures by CR works, and is fine as it's own subpage. I wouldn't mid keeping that one even with sortable lists that have CR as a property, if nothing, for the convenience of being able to click on the table of contents and zoom down to exactly the CR you want. A listing header-based links of those CRs on the SRD:Creatures page would be convenient as well, and I might just go and add it, since that section actually works.

Alignment sorting doesn't work as it's not set up to be properties yet. Not a big priority, but when that goes down, it really needs to be sortable by both the moral axis and ethical axis.

Note - this field has been propertized, but sorting it at all is basically unworkable. The problem is that monsters have bizarre alignments like "Always X" or "Usually Y or Z", and those don't set well at all as properties. The closest we're going to be able to get without going through and adding new semantic only alignment property lines to the monster templates is to treat them as searchable text strings, which we can already do, and looking for entries that match parameters like [[Alignment::~*awful*ood*]]. Which is going to be problematic with the neutral entries, but meh. - Tarkisflux 01:56, 5 February 2011 (UTC)

Creatures by Size should be handled like Creatures by CR, with all the listings on a single article, links on the main SRD:Creatures page and a table of contents for easy navigation.

Creatures by Environment also doesn't work currently due to lack of properties. Also not a big priority, but nice to have.

Environment has been propertized, but suffers the same problems as alignment. Basically the same query though, so getting it up in some form isn't going to be too hard. - Tarkisflux 01:56, 5 February 2011 (UTC)

Creatures by Type needs some reformatting, probably like Creatures by CR. It's just way to much scrolling for the content on that page.

If it comes to it, instead of reformatting the SRD to include properties (which it should be done to have), manual lists can be typed up and put on these pages, since new monsters aren't being added to the SRD.

The SRD creatures all use the standard template for regular monsters (as far as I know), and it is actually really easy to change their behavior. So don't do the manual thing :-) - Tarkisflux 01:56, 5 February 2011 (UTC)

Just a couple last thingers is on my mind about this, being which sub-pages, if any, need the OGL Top template (which gives the OGL Category as well)? Some have it and some don't (with the "don't-ers" being all the Creatures by Size sub-pages + Creatures by Temperature + Creatures by Plane + the main Creatures page). Also, should Creatures by Temperature be called Creatures by Climate? --Ganteka Future 19:35, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
