SRD talk:Fire Immunity
From Dungeons and Dragons Wiki
Immunity to A = Vulnerability to B?[edit]
Fire Immunity seems to automatically give Vulnerability to Cold. Is this true in all cases of Fire Immunity? If so, does the principle extend to all forms of elemental immunity? Immunity to one form automatically giving vulnerability to its opposite element? --Be well 10:21, September 26, 2009 (UTC)
- Would like to know this as well. 78.84.202.95 19:29, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
- From what I can tell, the core books don't actually have listings for Fire Immunity and Cold Immunity. The text on these pages is borrowed from their respective subtype listings (Fire Subtype and Cold Subtype). Things like the SRD:Ring of Energy Immunity also don't mention vulnerability, making me suspect that the Vulnerability portion needs to be removed from these two pages (if not ever remove the pages entirely). --Ganteka Future 19:52, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
- I concur with that assessment. The subtypes may have vulnerability, but simple fire immunity should not come with it automatically. - TG Cid 22:10, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
- More informations: the 3.0 DMG has no entry for Fire or Cold Immunity in the Special Abilities and Conditions. It only has entries for the subtypes, but the text is largely the same. The 3.5 DMG does have this entry in the Glossary and the official SRD text has it in the Special Abilities and Conditions section, and does not have a listing for the subtypes. My guess is that it's an edition transition bug, like diplomancing, and you have a pretty strong case for ignoring the vulnerabilities associated here. - Tarkisflux 00:33, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
