A Pata or sword gauntlet is a bladed weapon much like a short sword, except that the blade is integrated in a gauntlet. Since this is a gauntlet this weapon cannot be disarmed. You draw and equip this weapon as normal. This weapon applies for Weapon Finesse even though it is not a light weapon.
While wielding this weapon and utilizing the [[SRD:Combat Expertise|Combat Expertise]] feat (or it's [[Combat Expertise, MS Variant (3.5e Feat)|variant]]. ) and an opponent misses you in melee, you can make an attack of opportunity against that opponent as an immediate action, usable once per round. In addition, you may use a ready action to get into the proper fighting stance for an attack against a mounted charge, you deal double damage on a successful hit against a charging character who is mounted.
