1. See Damage Increases by Size to calculate the damage for a weapon larger than Medium or smaller than Small.
2. Weight figures are for Medium weapons. A Small weapon weighs half as much, and a Large weapon weighs twice as much.
3. When two types are given, the weapon is both types if the entry specifies "and", either type (player's choice at time of attack) if the entry specifies "or", or each end of the double weapon is a different type if the entry specifies "/".
4. The hp value given is for Medium armor, weapons, and shields. Divide by 2 for each size category of the item smaller than Medium, or multiply it by 2 for each size category larger than Medium.

A springmace is a unusual light mace with a rather thick shaft line with a trigger not unlike the trigger of a musket. When the trigger is pressed, the mechanism inside the springmace allows the head to detach from the shaft, revealing a short chain linking the body and the head of the mace. When the trigger is depressed, the mechanism quickly pulls the chain and reattaches the head of the mace of the shaft.

A springmace has reach, so you can strike opponents 10 feet away with it. In addition, unlike most other weapons with reach, it can be used against an adjacent foe. As a standard action the wielder may make an attack at 20 extra feet of reach, but with a -2 penalty. You can make trip attacks with the springmace. If you are tripped during your own trip attempt, you can drop the chain to avoid being tripped.

In addition to the normal nonproficiency penalty, using a springmace can be dangerous and a non proficient wielder that uses it automatically hits themselves on a natural 1. However if the trigger is ignored it can be used as a one-handed Light Mace.

A springmace count as a light mace for the purpose of feats and abilities with the exception of proficiency.
