Tactical Marbles[edit]

Lay these marbles to knock down foes

Tactical Marbles are round balls made of either stone, glass, crystal or metal. You scatter these Marbles in hopes that the enemies who enter the square slip and fall. Each two pound bag of marbles covers a 5 foot square.

Each time a creature moves into an area covered by marbles (or spends a round fighting while standing in such an area), it steps on some. Any creature in the area or who walks into the area must make a successful DC 15 Reflex save or fall.

This save is repeated on your turn each round that the creature remains within the area and moves. A creature can walk within or through the area of Marbles at half normal speed with a DC 10 Balance check. Failure means it can’t move that round (and must then make a Reflex save or fall), while failure by 5 or more means it falls and takes 1d3 non lethal damage. (see the Balance skill for details).

These may not work on unusual creatures.

A player may if they wish use a pint of oil on the marbles. This requires careful work and takes 5 minutes to apply oil to all of them. Once applied the dc reflex save is increase to 18 and the balance check is increased to 13.

Craft (Tools) DC 10. Market Price 15 gp, 19 if pre oiled.
