Ratings[edit]

In light of the tweaks made, I have withdrawn my negative rating.

A great improvement over the SRD Blackguard.

Tweaks and Twonks[edit]

Strange complaint MS. Before I address them, just to let others know the class has undergone a few tweaks. Mostly minor, closing loopholes, and clarity issues. Of note, I boosted the lay on hands draining hands, gave them a horse (and changed how ex-paladins handle their mounts), changed spells back to Cha (I was debating for a bit), and was finally convinced to give them 4+Int (a pointless gesture since skills were never a focus at all, but it can't hurt). The big change though was in Icon of Sin. I find MS's Christianity remarks unusual since the point was to give them some unique flavor possibly related to the reason they fell (if they were a former paladin), so I used the seven deadly sins as fodder for the names since the sins are archetypes to various things usually seen as badwrong. Christianity might use them, but I think they've transcended into classic archetypes. The point is mostly moot because they've been changed radically into their current form. LD convinced me naming them after common reasons for paladins to fall was more appropriate. I agree.

Hopefully all of the sins are now balanced. Not really sure what MS's other complaints are (the worst aspects of blackguard... what precisely are they? I figured it was prereqs and sneak attack that made no sense, and no smooth progression from previous paladin levels. Look closely, paladins no longer get shafted going from, say, paladin 7 to paladin 7/blackguard 1 or rather paladin 1/blackguard 7...) If you could expound on the manner of your miffle, that would be great. -- Eiji-kun 11:53, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
