Cleric's Dominate Person[edit]

I wanted to see if the Turn to the X spells could be done better. Tell me what you think. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 10:29, 15 February 2015 (UTC)

It still runs into all the problems inherent with alignment, but better job overall.
"The creature's mind is split into the altered one, in control of the body, and the original which can only observe for the duration." How does this affect mental-only actions (like Psionics)? --Fluffykittens (talk) 11:01, 15 February 2015 (UTC)
I figured I wasn't getting completely around it, but "good enough" is good enough for me.
That's.... a good point, I didn't account for that. Hmm, lemme think. Or if you have any ideas, that works too. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 11:44, 15 February 2015 (UTC)
As written, the spell essentially subjects the target to long term possession in order to break their minds. That's pretty much evil under most circumstances, too evil even for many anti-villains. I would have instead made the spell "target of spell must make a will save every time they try to act in a matter not in accordance with (alignment) or they act in the manner you told them to anyways." This can be independent of alignment system- simply assign target a number of actions that are either proscribed or required under certain circumstances--Fluffykittens (talk) 22:15, 15 February 2015 (UTC)
