Compressing and Summarizing, and other stuff[edit]

Hmm hmmm.

I am concerned about the strength of the ability (blinding is one of the better debuffs), so I'm adding my two cents into this. There's a couple ways around it, including where the duration is instant until an action is taken to move it, or a short duration but you can spam it more often, which are the two I suggest. The range is a bit clunky too. You might do better with either a fixed range, or a pre-specified range like "Close". Both of these things will also decrease the length.

Anyway, I don't really recommend perma-blindness at level 1 when the cure comes at level 3. You can, since it's close, but I still don't recommend it.

If you want though, you can use a turn attempt to make the duration long duration. Hour/level is just fine. Then, if you really want it permanent (which I'd say not to do, so not to remove the need for the Blindness/Deafness spell) you could say use it on a blind creature + turn to perma-blind them.

Hmm, we may want to also put a limit on uses, so not to make it dippably easy to get a gaze attack. We can ease up on the restrictions to its power if I do that.

Anyway, here's my rewrite, assuming you don't do the latter.

You obtain a gaze attack out to Close range as a standard action, Fortitude save DC 10 + 1/2 level + Cha modifier. Those that fail the save are blinded for 1d6 rounds, save negates. You may use this a number of times equal to 3 + your cleric level/day.

If you expend a turn/rebuke attempt, the duration of the blindness extends out to 1 hour/level. In addition to normal methods of curing blindness, you may cure the blindness from this domain power by washing one's eyes with holy water as a full round action.

There. This both makes the debuff limited in how much a 1st level dipper can spam it, and gives you a reason to spam it every 1d6 rounds to maintain it, or to burn turn attempts making it last. And finally I added an extra curing method both for flavor, and for helping level 1 parties deal with hour long blindness. What think? -- Eiji-kun (talk) 04:16, 27 September 2015 (UTC)

That actually works pretty well. (One of the spells I put in turned out to be mass blindness anyways.) --Luigifan18 (talk) 04:25, 27 September 2015 (UTC)
