CR[edit]

This is not a CR 16 monster. It does not have enough options for that. Surgo 13:52, March 4, 2010 (UTC)

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "options"; utility powers, or some sort of special defenses or non-damage attack method? -- Quantumboost 17:37, March 4, 2010 (UTC)

Is there a recharge time on the Hyper Beam? HornedTurtle 2/26/12

I have to question how said Pokemaster is actually supposed to catch/evolve Gyarados, with it's 22hd/cr16, it means the Magicarp has to be epic level before it evolves. How/why did the type change from magical beast (aquatic) to Dragon (air, water)? I agree with the subtype changes but it should still be a magical beast. even in Pokemon's lore, Gyarados was never a dragon, this only causes control/capture of this non-legendary (yet still very cool) sea-serpent to be unplayable without proceeding into epic levels.

(from the pokemaster's "evolve pokemon" ability) "Pokémon who become Dragons in this way are not harder to control than natural dragons are." using this ability as listed as soon as you can get it at level 6. you could evolve a Magicarp to a 6hd Gyrarados, effectivly ruining every childs dream of what Gyarados is supposed to be.
(This is under the evolve Pokemon ability, meaning it doesn't apply to wild captures.)
I'd say. 16hd(high level but not epic), Hyper beam = (HD)d6 DC:(HD)+Con mod, Frightful presense DC:(HD)+ Cha mod

Pokemon lol. The writing is humourous, and the crunch is solid to make a matching pair. Refering to my "monster cheat sheet" the attack bonus is higher than normal, the AC lower than normal, and the hp spot on for CR 16. Power attacking can make up the below-average damage and work well with the high attack bonus. On DR, I think giving it a DR which isn't bypassed easily at that level is fine. With AC being lower than normal, it'll be taking hits so it needs to be able to soak if it can't dodge.

In spite of that nitpick, I am amused by this and would use it if given the chance, so I approve.
