The movement speed in the table seems to conflict with that in the description. And what power level is this? I assumed rogue, is that accurate?--ParakeeTalk 19:02, 2 June 2011 (UTC)
- Needs a balance point. --Franken Kesey 22:03, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
- Added, I gave it Wizard simply by virtue of the spell advancement. - TG Cid 02:57, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

This class is an example of being practical but, in my opinion, boring. It reads to me as exactly the same as the Sword Dancer from Oriental Adventures, just condensed by a few levels to make it more practical and perhaps with added spellcasting advancement that I can't remember it having before. The spellcasting alone makes it effective as a class, but it renders the other abilities largely secondary in my eyes. Skill bonuses are OK, especially in games that use Tome of Prowess, but they're still passive bonuses (note the similarity in criticism between this and the Nito Master). The weapon enhancements are solid, giving you a bit of versatility, but they of course depend on actually using your sword instead of relying on the clearly superior option of spellcasting.
My main gripe lies in the fact that I'm not sure how much of this class is original; I haven't looked at the OA Sword Dancer in some time, but as I mentioned before I can't see much of a difference aside from the condensing of levels and the spell advancement. This lack of original content is worrisome to me, and so it goes from being an ambivalent rating to a dislike. |
