Suddenly, behind you stands a strange, bipedal rabbit-like creature with a lanky build. It seems to have come just in time to hear all the sensitive information you've been blabbing, and runs away the moment you make eye contact while loudly blurting out random secrets that it overheard.

The legendary tattletale is an incredibly strange creature. Believed to have been the result of a failed alchemy experiment if snippets of its speech are to be believed, this strange white bipedal rabbit creature roams the material plane with a single purpose: to overhear sensitive information blurted out in the heat of the moment or when nobody is believed to be around, and to share it with everybody else by running roughshod across the lands and shouting it out for all to hear. Nobody knows why it does what it does, but it does it, and its 'tattling' has caused a great amount of stir and violence in its wake.

The tattletale is nonviolent. It simply overhears all the things you wish you hadn't said, and then proceeds to destroy your life by shouting them out wherever it goes. Worse still, it seems to have some kind of sixth sense when it comes to sniffing out places where incredibly sensitive information is being told as it is somehow always in the right place at the right time to overhear the juiciest of information, regardless of any barriers or obstructions put into place to avoid eavesdropping. Due to the legendary tattletale's involvement, criminals have been apprehended, coup d'êtats have been foiled, and nightly trysts have been impinged upon the world over, and still it haunts the night, continuing to fulfill its genetic imperative of being extremely annoying.

It is not known whether or not the tattletale is intelligent. It is capable of speaking, but only ever repeats things that it has overheard without any variations. Whenever it speaks, though, it does so very loudly, ensuring that as many people as possbile overhear. Some people think it runs on a loop, constantly cycling through all the things it has overheard in its lifetime, though it is more likely that it randomly chooses what to say, as more recently obtained information is shouted more often. In general, when not in the process of sneaking up on its next 'prey', it shouts out one secret per round as it moves.

Combat[edit]

The tattletale does not fight. It only overhears you, and then uses its immense speed to skidaddle as quickly as possible to shout out what it overheard to whomever might listen. Aside from this, all of its actions are focused on tattling and using its incredible speed and defenses to escape any danger coming its way.

Freedom of Movement (Su): A tattletale is under a constant freedom of movement effect. When under effects that ignore freedom of movement, it still gains a +8 circumstance bonus to any saves or checks made to move out of or escape the effect.

One with Karma (Ex): Unbeknownst to most, the tattletale is a creature interwoven with the natural law of karma, its tattling a byproduct of its genetic imperative to sow karma. One can go so far as to call the creature an agent of karma itself. As such, it gains the following benefits:

  • The tattletale has a +10 luck bonus to AC, saves, and checks, including initiative checks. This effect is constantly active.
  • When it senses causal fluctuations involving secrets being told, which it can do within a 1-mile radius, it may use a dimension door effect (effective caster level 20; maximum distance 1,200 ft.) leading to or approaching the source as a free action.
  • Within a 200-foot radius of the tattletale, any effects that alter the flow of karma, such as karmic annihilation, are suppressed and negated.
  • The tattletale is incredibly difficult to catch, let alone harm, but should anyone manage to kill the tattletale, a curse of karma will befall them: the tattletale's killer falls under a permanent curse of misfortune that only a full-powered wish is capable of removing.

Spell-Like Abilities: At will—mirror image, 3/day—quickened bamf. Caster level 20th.

A tattletale automatically casts retort upon taking 1 or more points of lethal damage from an attack or offensive effect. Nonlethal damage does not cause this to happen.

The following abilities are always active on a Tattletale's person, as the spells (caster level 20th)
Greater dispel magic (automatically triggered, but only against silence and other effects that obscure or impede sound).
