A tiny mimic can have almost any dimensions, but usually is not more than 3 feet long. A typical tiny mimic has a volume of 0.5 cubic feet and weighs about 10 pounds, with some variance. They can contract or expand their volume by a factor of two, but their weight remains mostly constant.

Tiny mimics speak Common.

Combat[edit]

A tiny mimic often surprises an unsuspecting animal or small humanoid, lashing out with a heavy pseudopod. It prefers to devour creatures no more than 1 size category larger than itself. The creature does not necessarily fight to the death if it can communicate with its prey it will negotiate to extort treasure or food from a party.

Adhesive (Ex): A tiny mimic exudes a thick slime that acts as a powerful adhesive, holding fast any creatures or items that touch it. An adhesive-covered tiny mimic automatically grapples any creature it hits with its slam attack. Opponents so grappled cannot get free while the tiny mimic is alive without removing the adhesive first.

A weapon that strikes an adhesive-coated mimic is stuck fast unless the wielder succeeds on a DC 16 Reflex save. A successful DC 16 Strength check is needed to pry it off.

Strong alcohol dissolves the adhesive, but the tiny mimic still can grapple normally. A tiny mimic can dissolve its adhesive at will, and the substance breaks down 5 rounds after the creature dies.

Crush (Ex): A tiny mimic deals 1d3 points of damage with a successful grapple check.

Mimic Shape (Ex): A tiny mimic can assume the general shape of any object that fills roughly 2 cubic feet (2 feet by 1 foot by 1 foot), such as a large book, a medium cloak, or a lockbox. The creature cannot substantially alter its size, though. A tiny mimic’s body is hard and has a rough texture, no matter what appearance it might present. Anyone who examines the tiny mimic can detect the ruse with a successful Spot check opposed by the tiny mimic’s Disguise check. Of course, by this time it is generally far too late.

Skills: A tiny mimic has a +8 racial bonus on Disguise checks.

Familiar[edit]

Tiny mimics can be used as familiars with the Improved Familiar feat and at least 3rd caster level.

As a tiny mimic grows in power with its master, it improves its mastery over mimicry.

A tiny mimic familiar may not just emulate the size and shape of objects but emulate their function as well. A tiny mimic may assume the form of simple objects with no moving parts within its size and weight limitations.

A tiny mimic with a master of at least 5th caster level may emulate masterwork objects within its size and weight limitations, and even objects with moving parts.

A tiny mimic with a master of at least 7th caster level may also adjust its weight from 1-20 lbs, allowing it a far greater range of viable object forms as a Supernatural ability.

A tiny mimic with a master of 5th level or higher that takes a feat such as Masterwork body or others that allow the body to be enchanted, may themselves be enchanted as a magical item. Such enchantments only function when the tiny mimic assumes the general form of the object it was enchanted as (weapon, armor, wondrous item, etc).
