Summon Monster I
Conjuration
Level: Sorcerer/Wizard 1
Components: V, S, F
Casting time: 1 round
Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft. / 2 levels)
Effect: One Summoned Creature
Duration: Concentration (see text)
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: No

When you finish casting this spell, a creature is summoned to serve you. You can summon any creature with a challenge rating based on your ranks in Knowledge (the planes):

  • 5 or less ranks: CR 1 or less
  • 6-10 ranks: CR 2 or less
  • 11-15 ranks: CR 3 or less
  • 16-20 ranks: CR 4 or less
  • 21+ ranks: CR 5 or less

You may also summon two creatures of a CR 2 lower (so two CR 1 creatures instead of a CR 3 creature).

Each round you must spend a standard action to maintain the summoning. After you have spent this standard action, you may control the creature's actions. The creature must stay within long range; if it leaves long range, it is immediately released from the spell and returns to its native plane.

Summoned creatures have access to all of their normal abilities, but they cannot summon other creatures and they cannot cast spells. They can also only use their at-will spell-like abilities and they may only use those abilities once each.

When you use a summoning spell to summon an air, chaotic, earth, evil, fire, good, lawful, or water creature, it is a spell of that type.
