I'm rather surprised this is still up. This variant rule is a mess. The only reason for its existence is to support a couple of templates, which are also very bad/lame/uninteresting in general so that PCs can probably get more LA tacked onto them. I guess you could use this for NPCs, but they don't need to follow traditional character construction anyway. It all just ends up being a big waste of time. Random & Arbitrary "Growth": The Rule.
