|fluff=You have learned a safe version of your petrifying gaze, allowing you to freeze them in place.
|benefit=When using stony gaze, you may opt to deal no damage and instead [[Immobilized (3.5e Condition)|immobilize]] a creature that fails it [[Fortitude]] save for 1d4+1 rounds. If the immobilized creature is dealt damage, it is automatically free from this effect at the start of its next turn. If you use an immobilizing gaze on a creature already immobilized by it, it becomes unable to act beyond taking mental action. Much like if it was [[SRD:Paralyzed|paralyzed]] except that it is not helpless.

If the medusine has the [[Petrifying Gaze (3.5e Feat)|Petrifying Gaze]] feat, the effect of this feat lasts for as long as the target remains in the line of sight of the medusine. As normal, damage ends this effect.  

A medusine may release a creature from this effect as a free action.
