Mechanical Strider Pack
This complex device is a metallic backpack strapped around the chest, providing some protection to the wearer's vitals while primarily designed to aid in mobility and function with the four mechanical arms with grasping claws that can extend and retract from it.

The mechanical strider pack is a sophisticated piece of mechanical engineering. As such, it is always masterwork (included in the stats above). As a move action, the wearer can deploy or retract the limbs and must otherwise control them manually, using a swift action each round when deployed to do so.
When deployed and an appropriate action is taken to control the limbs, the strider pack functions as a masterwork skill tool for Balance, Climb, Escape Artist, Hide, Jump, Move Silently, Open Lock, Ride, Sleight of Hand, Swim, Tumble and Use Rope. Additionally when deployed, it grants Stability as a dwarf (including when climbing).
When climbing, they maintain a clamp on the surface they are attached to should the wearer not be able to spend an action to operate them.
It also has a cargo space, so it functions as a backpack as well.
Unlike most armors, the strider pack can be sundered if the limbs are deployed, though if sundered, the limbs become unusable until repaired.
Exotic Functionality
A wearer with the appropriate exotic armor proficiency reduces the armor check penalty by 3 and may don the armor as a full-round action. Additionally, the wearer is not hampered by the armor's encumbrance to his speed, may sleep in it without penalty and it grants the wearer a climb speed equal to half his base movement speed when deployed.
The limbs, when deployed, may be used to attack as a wielded masterwork one-handed reach weapon, dealing damage as a dagger appropriate for the wearer's size, though it may count as a light weapon when beneficial to the wearer in combat. This "weapon" is enhanced separately from the armor itself.
Craft Requirements
The crafter must be skilled enough to construct such a complex piece of equipment and requires 5 ranks in the appropriate Craft skill as well as 5 ranks in Knowledge (engineering).
