Fodinan Diamond[edit]

Fodinan diamonds are diamonds which absorbed underdark radiation, toughening in the process. While typical diamonds are completely unsuited for making armanets, fodinian diamonds lack many of the flaws that make doing so effectively impossible. Fodinian diamonds are usually of a rich light blue color, and are extremely rare and prized.

Much like other precious stone, fodinian diamonds cannot be forged into a armor or weapon, thus most weapons made of fodinian diamond uses a body made of metal, stone or wood and either have shaped fodinian glued or slotted alongside the ‘blade’ or have a magically shaped edge of the material. Similarly armor made of the material have fodinian diamonds pieces slotted inside the armor, much like armor spike. These limitations reduced the effectiveness of fodinian diamond as armament. Some underdark cultures without metalworking can use fodinian diamonds as an alternative to adamantine.

A weapon made of fodinian diamonds counts as an adamnatine weapon except for its mineral nature.

If made into an armor, fodinian diamonds add more protection than steel at a lesser weight. This effectively make it count as mithral, except that it is a mineral rather than a metal.

Type of Fodinan Diamond Item Item Cost Modifier
Ammunition +80 gp
Light armor +2,500 gp
Medium armor +5,000 gp
Heavy armor +10,000 gp
Shield +3,000 gp
Weapon +4,000 gp

Fodinan diamond has 20 hit points per inch of thickness and hardness of 30.

Full Diamond[edit]

However, through magic, it is possible to shape an ungodly amount of fodinian diamond into a blade or even a plate of armor. The result is an incredible piece of equipment, but the amount of diamonds needed make it extremely expensive.

A weapon made entirely of fodinian diamonds has all the normal benefits of a normal fodinian diamond weapon. Additionally, a full diamond's weapon critical threat increases by +1, this bonus stacks with other alteration of the weapon's critical threat, but is always added after.

An armor made of full diamond is utterly inflexible, lowering its maximum dexterity bonus by 2 and increasing its armor check penalty by 3. However it weight is quartered, and it grants double the damage reduction that an adamantine armor would grant.

Type of Full Fodinan Diamond Item Item Cost Modifier
Ammunition +300 gp
Light armor +10,000 gp
Medium armor +20,000 gp
Heavy armor +30,000 gp
Shield +10,000 gp
Weapon +15,000 gp

Full Fodinan diamond has 40 hit points per inch of thickness and hardness of 30.
