Detonation Wizard Evocation 3
Standard action Complex, Energy:Selectable, Light, Limited, Spread, SR:Yes ? V, S
Sphere: Fire
Range: Medium (100 ft. + 10 ft./level)
Area: All creatures in a 20ft radius burst
Duration: Instantaneous and recovery ends
Saving Throw: Ref diminished
{{{description}}}

Beloved by insane and not-so-insane spellcasters everywhere, this spell creatures a huge blast of energy, accompanied by a bright flash and a loud bang. Its shockwave also creates enough force to knock those it affects clean over.

All creatures in the area are dealt 1d6 damage per caster level of the user. Additionally, they are blinded and deafened (recovery ends either, roll separately for each condition). If a creature fails its Ref save by 3 or more, it is also knocked prone.

Enhanced: Creatures are instead dealt 1d8 damage per caster level of the user, and are knocked prone regardless of whether they pass or fail their save.

Diminished: Creatures are dealt one-half of 1d6 damage per caster level of the user, and are not blinded or deafened. They can still be knocked over if they fail their saves by 3 or more points, however.

Immune: No damage is dealt, and there is no risk of being blinded.

Augment (+1 slot): The blast hurls any creature in its area to the edge of the burst. For every 5ft a creature must travel this way, it is dealt an additional 1d6 damage. If it collides with a solid object, the creature stops, and both the creature and the object take additional damage as if the creature had moved fully. If this is enhanced, creatures (and any objects they collide with) are dealt 2d6 damage per 5ft of movement. If this is diminished, creatures move only half of the distance required to reach the edge of the burst, rounding down to the nearest 5ft. An Immune creature cannot move more than 5ft in this manner.

Item: Necklace of energy, wand of detonation

Alternative Names: Mage's surprise
