Talk:Broom (3.5e Equipment)

LolEdit

Ooo, does it clear X squares of debris (aka caltrops I'm thinking) in X time period? Tell me. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 19:50, 15 August 2013 (UTC)

what about Witch (3.5e Class) can they get in on this goodie as a starting prof. To ;) Wildmage Talk 21:56, 15 August 2013 (UTC)
Man, now I'm kickin' myself for not uploading my broom stats. So, in lieu of that, a recommendation: since it uses quarterstaff proficiency, just treat it like you could that (optional double-weapon), but have one end deal non-leathal damage (the broom end). I agree with Eiji that you should be able to do mundane sweeping stuff with this as well as some sort of action. Also, the potential for lighting the broom on fire for a couple rounds of burning attacks would be amusing as well. --Ganteka Future (talk) 23:14, 15 August 2013 (UTC)
Eiji-kun: I hadn't thought of rules for sweeping. My first thought is allowing a Medium creature with a Medium broom to sweep a 5-foot square as a standard action, or 9 5-foot squares within reach as a full-round action, only provoking an attack of opportunity if an enemy is in the area swept. Only items of negligible weight will be swept (individual caltrops, but not a bag of caltrops). Adjustments for size would be needed. Should rules for sweeping be in the weapon description?
Wildmage: Since the Witch is listed as getting all Simple weapons, and broom is listed as a simple weapon, yes.
Ganteka Future: You still can: That way gamers can choose which to use. Brooms do not use quarterstaff proficiency; they have their own like most other weapons. --Ideasmith (talk) 01:38, 16 August 2013 (UTC)
