1. See Damage Increases by Size to calculate the damage for a weapon larger than Medium or smaller than Small.
2. Weight figures are for Medium weapons. A Small weapon weighs half as much, and a Large weapon weighs twice as much.
3. When two types are given, the weapon is both types if the entry specifies "and", either type (player's choice at time of attack) if the entry specifies "or", or each end of the double weapon is a different type if the entry specifies "/".
4. The hp value given is for Medium armor, weapons, and shields. Divide by 2 for each size category of the item smaller than Medium, or multiply it by 2 for each size category larger than Medium.
The illithid parasite is not a traditional item and cannot be "made", it is a living organic creature born through alien illithid technology, and rumored to be one of the many disturbing permutations of illithid tadpoles. Appearing to be a creature not unlike a leech, they are attached to the hands (dealing 1 point of damage), where you may hold but not wield other items in said occupied hands. When squeezed and swung like a whip it extends its rubbery body out in a tentacle attack. This counts as a manufactured weapon or a natural weapon when beneficial, as well as counting as a tentacle attack. If you possess any natural poison abilities, these are also transferred through the tentacle.
A illithid parasite has reach, so you can strike opponents 10 feet away with it. In addition, unlike most other weapons with reach, it can be used against an adjacent foe.
When using an illithid parasite, you get a +2 bonus on opposed attack rolls made to disarm an opponent. Your opponent cannot use a disarm action to disarm you of an illithid parasite.
The illithid parasite acts as a deep crystal weapon, and psionic users can choose to expend a power point instead of a hit point when equipping the parasite.
If the illithid parasite is enhanced, you possess the appropriate weapon proficiency for the weapon, and you possess at least 1 power point remaining, you may choose to convert all of its damage into raw psionic damage. However, this damage is [Mind-Affecting]. You can channel touch range psionic powers through the parasite in order to benefit from the reach.
The price given is for purchasing, but it cannot be crafted short of having access to illithid breeding vats or the ability to create life.
