Sealer's Blade

The Sealer's Blade uses the Functional Weapons of Legacy variant rule.

A strange blade forged in a far away land, it is said to have been used to seal evil spirits and banish ghosts. Legend hold it was made by the Nakka-Ari, a clan of demon's sealer responsible for sealing the demon inside the Eternal Demon Blade of the Youkai, some bards and scholars say both legacy weapons are rivals. The hilt of the blade is wrapped in ofudas inscribed with various prayers and ritual.

The Sealer's Blade starts out as a urukke steel kukri that deals a damage size higher (1d6 for medium) against spiritsCD, evil outsiders or undeads. As various rituals are made and power is gained, the weapon starts taking on stronger powers. There are five rituals that are performed, they must be performed in order (the 2nd ritual must be completed before you start the 3rd, even if you achieve the 3rd level pre-requisites). Rituals cost gold (in the form of feeding the weapon raw materials) and xp, with an additional pre-requisite. Once the 1st level ritual is unlocked, the weapon displays its omen effect. You can take time out and spend 8 hours bringing the weapon to the next level once you have the pre-requisites.

The Sealer's Blade is a unique magic item, on its way to becoming an artifact. While it has a price, it cannot be completely destroyed. If reduced to 0 hp, it instead falls inert in a broken condition, and unable to be used until repaired, but is not destroyed as items usually are. It is treated as an artifact against the effects of mage's disjunction.

Omen: Strange runes glow on the blade, burning in ethereal flame as it kill a spirit, evil outsider or undead.

1st Ritual (Novice)

Detect Morality: The user is able to cast any of the detect alignment and detect undead spells as spell-like abilities at will.

Ethereal Flame: The Sealer's Blade gain the ghost touch enhancement for free. In fact it deal an additional +2d6 damage against incorporeal and ethereal foes.

Seal Spirit: Upon slaying a spiritCD, evil outsider or undead with the Sealer's Blade the wielder may attempt to seal it spirit as per soul bind. Unlike the spell it create it own material component upon sealing the target but only last for 1 day per character level of the wielder. The soul is sealed inside an ofuda which burn into flame when the duration expire.

Pre-Requisites: BAB +3 or Caster level 3 ranks, must have slain a spiritCD, evil outsider or undead with the Sealer's Blade. Cost: 2000 gp, 80 xp

2nd Ritual (Apprentice)

Draw Energy: As a standard action the wielder of the Sealer's Blade may attempt to draw upon her own life energy by focusing on the blade. She must make a DC 20 Autohypnosis or Concentration check, if successful she add her character level to her next attack roll, damage roll or saving throw. If not used within 1 round the effect is wasted.

Foxfire: As a standard action the wielder of the Sealer's Blade can unleash electricity or fire as per the Energy Blade Beam feat. If she possess the feat or later gain it she deal +1 damage per damage die when using either the electricity or fire options.

Sealing Ritual: When you use the Seal Spirit ability you may make it permanent by spending 100 gp of reagents per hit dice of the Sealed creature in a 10 minute ritual.

Pre-Requisites: BAB +6 or Caster Level 6, must seal a spiritCD, evil outsider or undead of your CR or higher with the Sealer's Blade.

Cost: 8000 gp, 320 xp

3rd Ritual (Adept)

Draw Memory: As a standard action you may stab the Sealer's Blade in the ofuda of a sealed creature, tapping in it knowledge and memory. This behave as speak with dead but with no saving throw allowed and only to creature you sealed with the Sealer's Blade. It may only be used once per 24 hour per sealed creature.

Sealer's Shroud: As a long as the Sealer's Blade is sheathed it wielder is constantly under the effect of hide from undead (execpt it also applies to spirits and evil outsiders) and nondetection. Any effect which would breaker sanctuary also break the effect of this power, however it renew itself after 5 rounds.

Way of the Nakka-Ari: You may perform a Death Attack as an Assassin, except the DC is 10 +1/2 HD + Dexterity modifier. If used on a spiritCD, evil outsider or undead it bypass any immunities to the Death Attack they may have and you may choose to kill/destroy, paralyze them, or banish them (as per banishment) if extraplanar.

Pre-Requisites: BAB +9 or Caster level 9, must defeat and seal two of the following: a spirit noble or royalty, a powerful evil outsider (CR 10 or more) on the material plane or an intelligent undead of at least 500 years of age.

Cost: 18,000 gp, 720 xp

4th Ritual (Master)

Greater Foxfire: As Foxfire except it for Greater Energy Blade Beam, having the feat or later gaining it increase the extra damage per die to +2.

Soulbinding Blade: The Sealer's Blade is now constantly under the effect of the soulbinding sword, the wielder may transfer soul from the blade in a ofuda as normal but not the reverse.

Otherworld's Bane: The Sealer's Blade gain the Bane enhancement, except it applies to all spiritCD, evil outsider or undead.

Pre-Requisites: BAB +12 or Caster Level 12 ranks, must defeat and seal one of the following: An evil outsider who hold a title on one of the lower plane, a powerful (CR 12 or higher) wild spirit who caused the death of at least one innocent or an undead who created an hundred or more spawns.

Cost: 32,000 gp, 1280 xp

5th Ritual (Grandmaster)

Restore the Clan: The wielder of the Sealer's Blade may decide to restore the Nakka-Ari Clan, becoming the rightful Grandmaster of the Clan. If she does so she gain the variant leadership feat as a bonus feat, if she has the feat or later gain it the number of follower she possess triple.

Secret of the Nakka-Ari: When successfully killing a foe with a Death Attack, instead of killing it you may permanently seal it as per imprisonment

Summon the Sealed: You may summon the spirit of those you sealed in ofudas, essentially calling them as per the gate spell except it is a [summoning] effect instead of a [calling] effect. However they only last 1 round per character level before fading back into their seal. You may use this ability up to three time per day, and only once per day per particular creature.

Cost: 50,000 gp, 2000 xp

Cost to Create: Unique item, cannot be created.
