Aquaphobia, Kasi Variant

Water scares you, you've heard what it's like to drown...

Prerequisite: Must not cast any spells with the 'Water' descriptor. You may also not use any Spell-Like effects or Supernatural abilities, or enchantments involving Water.

Effect: This flaw conforms a variety of negative effects. If within 15ft. of any spell with the 'Water' descriptor, you must make a DC 15+Spell Level or become At Bay from the effect. If you are within 10ft, you become Shaken, and if you are within 5ft you become Frightened. This effect lasts for a number of rounds equal the duration of the spell plus two. A new spell does not worsen the previous, but instead refreshes this duration. Supernatural effects also proc this, as do spell-like effects, with the spell level being equivalent to the caster level.

Secondly, the very idea of becoming wet makes you cautious. When the character is required to wade through water or otherwise become wet, they become At Bay.

Furthermore, while on a boat or otherwise sea-bound form of transportation, you are permanently At Bay while on the edge of the water (Such as against the railing of a boat), but you are not completely unnerved. Instead, you are simply on edge and your resolve is weakened from discomfort, invoking a -4 penalty to will saves as long as your boat remains on the water.

Bodies of water cause the character to become At Bay if they are within 20ft, and only if the Water is sufficient as to cause harm to the character in some form. Examples of this would be water the character may drown in (Or come close to. It's irrational, after all.), Currents strong enough to carry them away or reduce their footing, or imposing displays such as Waterfalls. If the character comes within 5 feet of these bodies of water, they become shaken, and if they come into contact, they will become frightened. Finally, if they are fully submerged in water, the character will become Panicked.

Seeing one's reflection within water causes the character to become Shaken as their mind puts the image of themselves surrounded by water into motion.

Creatures made of water, such as Water Elementals, cause the character to become At Bay. If they are ever grappled by these creatures, they become Frightened immediately. Intimidation tests made by these creatures gain a +2 Bonus against the character.

Creatures or characters, NPCs and players both, flaunting water-based magic or effects (Such as a mage using water magic also gain a +2 Bonus against the character, and cause them to become At Bay.

If the character should ever have their sensations or breathing restricted by water in any other way (Such as waterboarding), they count as fully submerged and will become panicked.

All other liquids that sufficiently may pass as water, typically clear ones, count towards this flaw.

Benefit: Any bonus feat for which you meet the prerequisites.

Special: The DM should always have final justification for whether a scenario, creature or so on would trigger the character's Aquaphobia or not, as any other Flaw.
