The Bow of Karakus[edit]

The Bow of Karakus uses the Functional Weapons of Legacy variant rule.

The Bow of Karakus acts as +1 Long Bow . There are five rituals that are performed, they must be performed in order (the 2nd ritual must be completed before you start the 3rd, even if you achieve the 3rd level pre-requisites). Rituals cost gold (in the form of feeding the blade raw materials) and xp, with an additional pre-requisite. Once the 1st level ritual is unlocked, the weapon displays its omen effect. You can take time out and spend 8 hours bringing the weapon to the next level once you have the pre-requisites.

The Bow of Karakus is a unique magic item, on its way to becoming an artifact. While it has a price, it cannot be completely destroyed. If reduced to 0 hp, it instead falls inert in a broken condition, and unable to be used until repaired, but is not destroyed as items usually are. It is treated as an artifact against the effects of mage's disjunction.

Omen: Fey creatures give off a neon orange aura when within 10 feet of the bow

1st Ritual (Roots)[edit]

True Aim: Gain a +2 to all attack rolls for attacks made with the Bow of Karakus

Lucky Hit: 1/day you may reroll a ranged attack roll.

Pre-Requisites: BAB +3, you must sacrifice holy gems of Corellon Larethian into the bow.

Cost: 2000 gp, 80 xp

2nd Ritual (Feywild's Grace)[edit]

Blessing of the Feywild: As long as you are holding the Bow of Karakus, you are under the influence of a feather fall effect.

Fey Blessed Hit: You may use Lucky Hit 3/day

Feystep: 1/day you may instantly teleport to an arrow shot from the Bow of Karakus.

Pre-Requisites: BAB +6 . You must sacrifice 500 GP worth of holy gems of Corellon Larethian, and gain the blessing of a fey creature.


Cost: 8500 gp, 320 xp

3rd Ritual (Offshoot )[edit]

Feywild Focus: You gain a +4 bonus to spot, concentrate, and listen while wielding the Bow of Karakus

Split arrow: 3/day you can choose to declare a "splitting shot", this causes an arrow you fire to duplicate midflight, roll double damage dice on a successful hit.

Pre-Requisites: BAB +9. Must completely take the Bow of Karakus and meditate with it at a tree 200 years old or older.

Cost: 18,000 gp, 720 xp

4th Ritual (Force of the Feywild)[edit]

Shield of Feywild: You gain Spell Resistance of 15 + HD and DR 10/Cold Iron while wielding the Bow of Karakus

Friend of the Wild: You may use "Lucky Hit" and "Split Arrow" 5/day each.


Pre-Requisites: BAB +15.

Cost: 50,000 gp, 2000 xp. You must take the Bow of Karakus to the Feywild and bury it in the ground overnight.

5th Ritual (Guidance of Karakus)[edit]

Path of Karakus: You may cast Transport via Plants as a swift action up to 5 times per day.

Eternal Knowledge (Ex): The Bow of Karakus houses a guide who is an expert in a variety of areas, it grants you access to great stores of lore. From history to planar phenomena, your guide has seen almost everything. When you attain this ritual, your bow can make Knowledge checks with a bonus equal to your CR + your Int modifier. When you first gain this ability, you can select two areas of knowledge.

Guided Strike (Ex): Drawing on Karakus' experience and keen eye for strategy and tactics, your guide grants you advice that can render even the most daunting foe impotent.You can confer with your guide concerning a single foe that you face. For the rest of your turn, you automatically overcome your foe's damage reduction, if any. You can use this ability only while wielding the Bow of Karakus.


Island in Time (Ex): You can throw yourself into a fight under Karakus' careful direction. You meld with his spirit, allowing him to control your actions while you draw upon its vast combat experience. Three times per encounter, you can take your turn as an immediate action. Using this ability does not change your initiative count, and you can use all your actions as normal. For example, if your initiative count is 15, you could act normally, use this ability to act again on initiative count 14, then act normally on the following round on initiative count 15.


Pre-Requisites: Must gain the blessings of 100 fey creatures, who take part in a prayer ritual to Corellon Larethian

Cost: 150,000 gp, 4000 xp.

Prerequisites: N/A.
Cost to Create: Unique item, cannot be created.
