Used by Jedi to avoid unnecessary scrutiny, this Force power is also heavily used by the Sith, so that their connection to the Dark Side of the Force is not discovered.
As long as you know this power, you function as if under an undetectable alignment spell. If you are affected by a dispel magic or something similar, this ability is suppressed as if it were a magic item instead.
