Concussion[edit]

Concussion is a status condition resulting from bludgeoning impacts, similar to a Monk's Stunning Fist attacks. It represents clouding of the mind and senses resulting from blunt force trauma, vision going blurry, ears maybe ringing. If you've ever been punched in the nose and then knocked unconscious by another blow, you know exactly how this feels.

Functioning in a similar manner to Bleedout, Concussion stacks build up, and fade at a rate of 1 per round - Or faster if the creature heals ability damage faster than normal. Likewise, Concussion stacks can be healed away at the same rate as ability damage by things like Restoration spells. Creatures without a Con score are immune, as are those immune to stunning.

When your Concussion stacks reach a number equal to or higher than 3 + your Constitution modifier, you are Staggered as long as they remain above this threshold. So if you had a Constitution score of 16, you would be Staggered upon reaching 6 stacks. When stacks reduced below 6, you would no longer be staggered. In any round you would be Staggered by this, you may make a Fortitude save (DC = 10 +number of stacks) in order to overcome the Staggering for that round.

When your stacks reach a number equal to or higher than 3 plus your whole Constitution score, you are knocked unconscious, as if by taking nonlethal damage in excess of your current hit points. You can make a Fortitude save (DC = 10 + Stacks) each round on your turn to regain consciousness (Being Staggered instead, with no save against the Staggering); If you do, you remain conscious until you gain another Concussion stack.
