Rewrite Fate (3/Day). If the dreadborn fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead.

Mind Probe. If a creature communicates telepathically with the dreadborn, the dreadborn learns the the creature’s deepest regrets if the dreadborn can see the creature.

Magic Resistance. The dreadborn has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Bound by Fate. If a creature expends inspiration within 120 feet of the dreadborn, it becomes vulnerable to all that creature’s attacks for 1 minute.

Dread Demiplane. The any demiplane created within 1 mile of the dreadborn becomes a Dread Demiplane. A Dread Demiplane is a 30 foot diameter sphere of mist which contains a pocket dimension of the same size. The contents of this dimension are determined by the dreadborn whose effect transformed it. It may be entered freely from the outside, but if attempted to exit from within, the mist walls turn back any creature attempting to do so. If a creature ends a turn within the Dread Demiplane, it takes 18(6d6) psychic damage. On each turn, a creature inside the Dread Demiplane may make a DC 20 Wisdom saving throw, and upon success, may exit through the mist, and will no longer take damage by staying inside. Alternatively, the dreadborn or a creature it designates may allow a creature to exit at will. If a creature’s saving throw is successful, the creature can escape from any Dread Demiplane at will for the next 24 hours. A Dread Demiplane lasts for 1 week, however, if the demiplane spell is cast again, the Dread Demiplane will last for 1 more week, has a 30 foot wider diameter, and the DC for the Wisdom saving throw required to escape is 1 higher. Once the DC has increased past 30, the Dread Demiplane becomes permanent and can no longer be escaped by means of a Wisdom saving throw. The maximum size is now able to be changed anywhere from a 10 foot to a six mile diameter. If the Dread Demiplane is larger than 200 feet in diameter, creatures inside are no longer effected by the demiplane’s psychic damage. Creatures somehow bound to their dimension cannot enter or be forced to enter a Dread Demiplane.

Innate Spellcasting. The dreadborn’s spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 24). It can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components:

At will: command, detect magic, detect thoughts, dissonant whispers (at second level), dominate person (5th level), invisibility, nondetection (self)

3/day each: bane (at 3rd level), compulsion, confusion (at 4th level), destructive wave (necrotic damage), dimension door, fear, major illusion (at 6th level), mirror image, phantasmal killer (4th level)

1/day each: banishment (at 5th level), demiplane, dream (as if the dreadborn possesses a body part), feeblemind, mirage arcane, plane shift (self), weird

Actions

Multiattack. The dreadborn can use it’s Dreadful Presence. It then makes 2 grasping reach attacks, each of which it can replace with one use of Throes of Turmoil. Alternatively, it makes 4 grasping reach attacks.

Grasping Reach. Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 15 ft., one target. Hit: 18(3d6+9) bludgeoning damage, and the target is grappled (escape DC 16). Until this grapple ends, the target is restrained. The dreadborn can grapple 4 targets.

Throes of Turmoil. A creature grappled by the dreadborn is plunged through the misty veil into the Dread Demiplane (if one exists) and takes 16(2d8+10) psychic damage on the way. On a successful DC 23 Wisdom saving throw, or there is no Dread Demiplane within 60 feet of the dreadborn, you are instead knocked prone within 10 feet of the fateborn, but still take the psychic damage.

Dreadful Presence. Each creature within 120 feet of it and aware of it must succeed on a DC 23 Wisdom saving throw or take 5(1d8+1) psychic damage and become frightened for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, with disadvantage if the dreadborn is in line of sight, ending the effect on a success. If a creature’s saving throw is successful or the effect ends for it, the creature is immune to the dreadborn’s Dreadful Presence for the next 24 hours.

Mindcrush. Up to 10 targets the dreadborn can sense must succeed on a DC 23 Intelligence saving throw. Each creature that fails takes 55(11d10) psychic damage, or half as much on a successful save.

Legendary Actions

Grasping Reach or Throes of Turmoil. The dreadborn makes one Grasping Reach attack or uses its Throes of Turmoil.

Mindcrush (Costs 2 Actions). The dreadborn uses Mindcrush.

Demiplane Collapse or Expansion (Costs 3 Actions). The dreadborn initiates the collapse of any Dread Demiplane within a 120-foot radius. Any creature inside at the end of their next turn takes 68(17d8) force damage and fall prone. A collapsed Dread Demiplane is a 6 inch diameter sphere of fog that the dreadborn can command to move 30 ft in any direction as a bonus action. When re-expanding a Dread Demiplane, any creature within 30 ft must succeed on a DC 17 Dexterity saving throw or be forced inside it. A creature that has escaped a Dread Demiplane within 24 hours has advantage on this roll.
