Easterner's Armor

Brought to the western continent by roaming warriors from the Far East that called themselves 'bushi', the straightforwardly dubbed 'easterner's armor' seems to have been fashioned with protection against cutting blades in mind.

The eastern warriors from beyond the Heavenspan Sea favor curved, single-edged blades that cut sharply and deep, and as such their armors were sublimely resistant against slashing attacks, though at the cost of defenses against crushing blows or piercing attacks. Although this style of armour is largely phased out in kingdoms that employ more modern arms such as crossbows or early riflery, it is still quite prevalent in areas mainly bordering the Desertlands.

Easterner's armor covers the entire body and is usually unadorned without a maker's mark. The chest and faulds are fashioned from black iron or steel lamellar plates wound into an underlay of boiled leather, with further sections of lamellar plate protecting the shoulders. The armor includes reinforced boots, plated arm guards called 'tekou', and an eastern warrior's helm called a 'jingasa'.

The easterner's armor grants the following benefits when worn, on top of its general protective capabilities:

• Easterner's armor counts as a masterwork skill tool for the Intimidate and Ride skills.
• You gain DR 5/bludgeoning or piercing.
• Against slashing attacks of any kind, the easterner's armor's AC bonus counts as 2 higher.
