1. See Damage Increases by Size to calculate the damage for a weapon larger than Medium or smaller than Small.
2. Weight figures are for Medium weapons. A Small weapon weighs half as much, and a Large weapon weighs twice as much.
3. When two types are given, the weapon is both types if the entry specifies "and", either type (player's choice at time of attack) if the entry specifies "or", or each end of the double weapon is a different type if the entry specifies "/".
4. The hp value given is for Medium armor, weapons, and shields. Divide by 2 for each size category of the item smaller than Medium, or multiply it by 2 for each size category larger than Medium.
An elephant gun is a large caliber lever-action carbine used to kill large game such as elephants. The elephant gun was designed to be used in brush or tight places where using a longer firearm would be impractical. For those reasons, it is a popular firearm among adventurers. The elephant gun holds 6 cartridges. Since it is lever-action reloaded, the elephant gun takes some time to fully load. You can load two cartridges as move action or all 6 as a full-round action.
A proficient creature adds his Dexterity to damage when firing with an elephant gun. The recoil is so intense that you take a −1 cumulative penalty after each shot you fire in the round. The penalty is doubled when used by non-proficient creatures. When firing proper cartridges, the elephant gun ignores 1 point of DR and Natural Armor per attack granted by base attack bonus, however, only against targets within your first range increment. The amount of DR and Natural Armor ignored doubles at point blank range (which is 30 ft. by default).
The elephant gun cannot be fired one-handed.
