A Kallamore Knight-errant's armor.

Knight-Errant's Armor[edit]

Armor worn by the roving knights left behind in the wake of the devastated Kallamore kingdom, the knight-errant's armor's main body protection is a lightweight chainmail with underlay of sturdy leather, with key areas covered in fluted plate. Generally, the left arm and shoulder are protected by plate armor to boost the defense of their shield arm, while the right side is more lightly armored as to not interfere with the knight's dominant swordarm.

The Kallamore knights favored utility and versatility over maximum defensive power, and were known for their cunning in a fight. Their favored armor reflects their flexible martial spirit.

  1. If the character has some help, cut this time in half. A single character doing nothing else can help one or two adjacent characters. Two characters can't help each other don armor at the same time.

Knight-errant's armor is usually outfitted with a decorated tabard of the kingdom or region the wearer originated from. The suit includes a left pauldron and arm-plates, gauntlet, greaves and helmet over a chainmail. The right arm is more lightly armored, consisting of an upper arm guard and a studded leather glove. The armor has an insulated underlay that provides comfort and protects against cold climates and often comes with a few utility pouches. Basically, it is the perfect armor for one who is constantly on the road. The knight-errant's armor is always masterwork; price and benefits are subsumed in the above statistics.

The knight-errant's armor grants the following benefits when worn, on top of its general protective capabilities:

  • It counts as light armor for the sake of resting in it.
  • When wearing this armor, your speed is reduced by 5 feet less than normal. Add 5 feet to the value in the 'Armored' column of the Speed table above.
  • You count as having level 1 cold protection or your existing level of cold protection increases by +1 (see Protection against Cold, Frostburn pg. 9).
  • Any shield you wield has its shield bonus to AC increased by 1. This does not apply to bucklers. If you wield a two-handed weapon, you gain a +1 shield bonus to AC.

Craft (leatherworking and armorsmithing) DC 26. Market Price 1800 gp.
