Altenate Form (Su): Magnus can assume the form of a ape. Magnus also can assume a bipedal hybrid form with prehensile hands and animalistic features. Changing to or from an ape or hybrid form is a standard action. As usual, if slain Magnus reverts to his humanoid form, although he remains dead. Separated body parts retain their animal form, however. Afflicted lycanthropes find this ability difficult to control, but natural lycanthropes have full control over this power.

Ape Empathy (Ex): In any form, Magnus can communicate and empathize with apes or dire apes. This gives him a +4 racial bonus on checks when influencing the ape’s attitude and allows the communication of simple concepts and (if the ape is friendly) commands, such as “friend,” “foe,” “flee,” and "attack".

Curse of Lycanthropy (Su): Any humanoid or giant hit by a natural lycanthrope’s bite attack in animal or hybrid form must succeed on a DC 15 Fortitude save or contract lycanthropy. If the victim’s size is not within one size category of the lycanthrope the victim cannot contract lycanthropy from that lycanthrope. Afflicted lycanthropes cannot pass on the curse of lycanthropy. Magnus' DC is higher due to his being a patriarch.

Fire Acclimated: Half-giants have a +2 racial bonus on saving throws against all fire spells and effects. Half-giants are accustomed to enduring high temperatures.

Giant (Psionic): Half-giants are not subject to spells or effects that affect humanoids only, such as charm person or dominate person.

Naturally Psionic: Half-giants gain 2 bonus power points at 1st level. This benefit does not grant them the ability to manifest powers unless they gain that ability through another source, such as levels in a psionic class.

Powerful Build (Ex): Magnus functions in many ways as if he were one size category larger. Whenever a he is subject to a size modifier or special size modifier for an opposed check (such as during grapple checks, bull rush attempts, and trip attempts), Magnus is treated as one size larger if doing so is advantageous to him. He is also considered to be one size larger when determining whether a creature’s special attacks based on size (such as improved grab or swallow whole) can affect him. Magnus can strike unarmed or use weapons designed for a creature one size larger without penalty. However, his space and reach remain those of a creature of his actual size. The benefits of this racial trait stack with the effects of powers, abilities, and spells that changes Magnus’ size category.

Psi-Like Ability: 1/day—Stomp. Manifester level is equal to 1/2 Hit Dice (minimum 1st). The save DC is Charisma-based.

Rend (Ex): When Magnus hits with both claw attacks in animal or hybrid form, he latches onto the opponent’s body and tears the flesh. This attack automatically deals an extra 2d6+13 points of damage.
